Eugene E. “Gene” Mingus Jr. 69, Windsor Township, passed away Oct. 31, 2011, at Hospice House in Cleveland.He was born Sept. 20, 1942, he had lived in the Windsor area for more than 40 years.Mr. Mingus was a self-employed electrical contractor. Prior to that, he worked as a test engineer for Westinghouse in Cleveland.Gene married Connie Hissom Aug. 4, 1978, in Bedford Heights and served with the U.S. Army. Gene was a man of many hobbies and talents. His greatest love was spending time with friends and family, especially his children and grandchild.Survivors are his wife, Connie Mingus; daughter, Airman 1st Class, Stephanie (Joel) Rosier of Grand Forks, N.D.; son, Army Spec. Matthew (Cassandra) Mingus of Madison; grandchild, Rees Rosier of Grand Forks, N.D.; soon-to-be granddaughter, Victoria Mingus; sisters, Susan (Gary) Drushel, Joyce Carpenter, Cheryl Mingus and Nagenea (Elvin) Zapata; and brothers, Paul (Mary), Jerry, Bob (Wilma), and Keith Mingus(Changhong). Also Mrs. Eugene E. Mingus, Sr. (Nancy).He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Sr. and Dorothy (nee Combs) Mingus; sister, Judy Mingus; and brother, Ben Mingus.Services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Chardon Baptist Church, 363 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon, OH 44024. Pastor James Hayes of the church will officiate.Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.
