Elsie M. (Kacmarcik) Leda, 90, of Chester Township, passed away peacefully April 9, 2011, surrounded by her family at Hospice House of North Central Ohio in Ashland.Born Oct. 18, 1920, in Cleveland, Mrs. Leda had lived in Munson Township since 1967.She was a loving homemaker and worked at Central Bank as a bookkeeper prior to her marriage.Elsie married Henry J. Leda Aug. 29, 1953, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Cleveland.Elsie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to the care and nurture of her family. She enjoyed the domestic arts: cooking, baking, canning, sewing and gardening. She had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed poetry, music and dance, as well as a penchant for crossword puzzles.Her life was guided by an enduring and strong faith and she was a communicant at St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury for 44 years. The most palpable expression of her legacy is manifest in her three children, their spouses and six grandchildren, who both mourn her passing and celebrate the blessing of her life and the gift she was to all of them.Survivors are her daughter, Catherine (John) Seibyl of Branford, Conn.; son, Bernie (Cheryl) Leda of Windsor, Calif.; daughter, Carol (Bernd) Zimmermann of Ashland; and six grandchildren, Rebecca, Dale and Bennett Leda, Jennifer Seibyl, and Madeleine and Peter Zimmerman.She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Leda; parents, Anton and Klementine; and siblings, Vladimir and Joseph Kacmarcik and Anna Ponyik.Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at St. Helen Catholic Church 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury, OH 44065. The Rev. Jay McPhillips of the church will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square) Chardon.
