EDMUND F. WETTSTEIN II, Age 74, of Chardon, died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at his home in Ashtabula. Ed was born in Cleveland, OH, on June 19, 1940, to Edmund F. and Ellen (Huff) Wettstein. He graduated from Chardon High School, Class of 1958 and attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where he met his wife. Ed married Gene Grey in Cumberland, Maryland on January 29, 1962. He was a life-long resident of Chardon before moving to Ashtabula 9 years ago. Ed is a 40 year member of the Geauga Eagles, Aerie #2261, and a member of Moose Lodge #490 in Painesville, OH. He enjoyed preparing rib dinners for a variety of service organizations. He was especially proud of the steak dinners he grilled when the US Marine Corps and the Army bands played in Chardon. Ed also volunteered at the Ashtabula City Police Department. Ed was involved with the Cardiac Rehab program at Geauga Hospital, was known as a true “people person” and will be missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years; daughter, Serene Ellen (Husband, Randall James Knuth) Wettstein of Dayton, OH; son, Grey Frederick (Nicole) of Olmsted Falls, OH; 5 grandchildren, Jarred Gray, Andrea Knuth, Haley Szabo, Destani Szabo, Chancelor Szabo; 1 Great grandson, Irie Clay Huffman; 2 sisters, Diane Ferrick of Hicksville, OH and Ann Doersam of Chardon; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be at 6:30 PM on Friday, Sept 19 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. Visitation will be Friday from 4-6:30 PM.
