DOROTHY E. (HESS) DELANEY of Newbury, OH, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14. She was born in Hambden Twp., OH, on March 7, 1923, to James and Marie (Nee: Baumgartner) Konicek. She was a graduate of Chesterland High School. She had lived in Newbury for the past few years, coming from Chardon after having lived in Lyndhurst for over 20 years. Dorothy married Robert G. Hess in Burton, OH, on July 16, 1955. He died in 1982. She then married William Delaney in Lyndhurst, OH, on November 28, 1983. He died in 1987.
Dorothy had worked as a sales clerk for the Payless Store, a waitress for Ted’s Tavern, and as a clerk in the drafting department of General Electric in Euclid. She also helped raise children in her home for ten years and with her 1st husband, enjoyed the Geauga FOE, Aerie 2261, in Chardon, OH and the Bainbridge Senior Center.
Survivors include a nephew, William F. Blaschke of Russell Twp., and Niece, Susan B. Schenck of Aurora, OH. Her brother, Frank W. Blaschke and parents are deceased.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2:30 PM, at Holly Hill Nursing Home, 10195 Fairmount Rd., Newbury, OH, 44065. Interment will be in the Claridon Center Cemetery, on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
