Dolores was born November 9, 1936 in Dehue, West Virginia. She graduated from Minford High School in Minford, Ohio in 1955. She married her long time sweetheart, Donald, on May 19, 1964, and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. She worked for the C&P Telephone Company as a telephone operator for 10 years and later as a small business owner. In 1966, she relocated to Kirtland, Ohio after her husband was discharged from the Army and made a beautiful home for her family. She lived in Kirtland, Ohio for 36 years before moving to Chardon, Ohio where she spent the past 12 years. Her family remembers her as a kind and loving person who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Dolores was an avid reader and loved Bluegrass music. She was an accomplished cook, painter, photographer, genealogist, and writer. She penned her autobiography, A Wife’s Vietnam, a testimony of how her family dealt with her husband’s Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She lovingly offered support to vets and family members dealing with PTSD. She also co-authored and co-edited, Dehue History Book, Logan County, West Virginia, a book about the history and life of the coal camp that she and her husband grew up in. The book evolved into a permanent exhibit that is on display at the Chief Logan State Park Museum in Logan, West Virginia.
Her website http://loganwv.us/coal-miners-daughter/ was also a source of great pride and a way to connect with people from all over the world. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
