Delanor “Del” B. Richards

January 11, 1942 - March 11, 2017

Delanor “Del” Balis Richards age75 of Newbury, OH passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 11, 2017 after a two-year courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Del was born in Grantsville, WV, the son of Oval and Rachael (nee: Frederick) Richards (both deceased). He was a loving husband and childhood sweetheart to Janice (nee: Kakuk); beloved father of Jason (Elaine) and Papa to Elijah and Ava; father of Brian (Lori) and Papa to Tylar Bentz, Shane, Lexi and Austin Richards; the dear brother of the late Hayle (Flo) Richards. Del was a veteran of the US Army and later employed at Manfredi Motor Transit as a mechanic, welder/fabricator & supervisor for 33 years before retiring in 2009. Del always would lend a helping hand to anyone and has touched so many people with his generosity and gift of teaching. He was our hands on “MacGuyver.” Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. A private funeral service will be held and he will be laid to rest in Newbury Center Cemetery. Arrangements by the Burr Funeral Home of Chardon.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of him and all of you. Especially during baseball season. May he Rest In Peace.

Janice and family, Ron and I extend our deepest sympathy to each of you. As a long-time friend to Ron, there are many memories with Del that Ron holds near and dear to his heart. Though I had not had the pleasure of meeting him until a few years ago, his loving and gentle demeanor was obvious from the moment we met and I saw what a beautiful person he was inside and out.
