David Simon Mosher loved life. He was most at home when surrounded by nature. One of his many goals was to plant a million trees which he nearly succeeded in doing. But the most important thing to David was the needs and interests of his family and friends. He was most complete when he couldContinue Reading

So sorry to hear about your great loss. Jesus spoke about the condition of the dead. Jesus said to his disciples: Lazarus our friend has gone to rest (John 11:11-14). Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. So rest assured your loved one is in no pain, resting hoping to be brought back to life soon.

To Jeanne, Paul, and Family,Our heartfelt condolences to you . May you find comfort in your faith and in your beautiful grandchildren/nieces.Wordsworth's words speak our sentiments beautifully:What though the radiance which was once so bright Be now for ever taken from my sight, Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind; In the primal sympathy Which having been must ever be; In the soothing thoughts that spring Out of human suffering; In the faith that looks through death, In years that bring the philosophic mind.Sincerely, Diane & Bill Sutschek

David had 200,000 trees to plant to make his goal of 1 million planted. Please go to www.arborday.org to donate a dollar per tree in his memory. Maybe we can make his goal for him.

The Heart of the TreeWHAT does he plant who plants a tree? He plants a friend of sun and sky; He plants the flag of breezes free; The shaft of beauty, towering high. He plants a home to heaven anigh For song and mother-croon of bird In hushed and happy twilight heard -- The treble of heaven's harmony -- These things he plants who plants a tree. What does he plant who plants a tree? He plants cool shade and tender rain, And seed and bud of days to be, And years that fade and flush again; He plants the glory of the plain; He plants the forest's heritage; The harvest of a coming age; They joy that unborn eyes shall see -- These things he plants who plants a tree. What does he plant who plants a tree? He plants, in sap and leaf and wood, In love of home and loyalty And far-cast thought of civic good -- His blessing on the neighborhood Who in the hollow of His hand Holds all the growth of all our land -- A nation's growth from sea to sea Stirs in his heart who plants a tree. To everyone in Ohio who is part of David's circle:Thank you for your kindness and for being part of his life. As his aunt, David was part of my life for 39 years. He was a unique person; very grounded, yet floating above the rest of us. He added a dimension to my existence unfilled by anyone else. I have no idea why he was taken from a world who needs millions more like him.To his mother, Carol: I am absolutely devastated by this senseless loss, but it is nothing compared to your and Silas' loss, and that of your grandchildren, Grace and Liberty. All of you are in my thoughts, side-by-side with David.

Dear david...how I wish I could be in OH with your family and friends to help them heal through this time. You had a heart and spirit unlike no other. I will never forget all the fun times we had in Berea...throwing horseshoes, having bonfires, and most impotantly you giving me the oppurtunity to meet my best friend in the entire world. My life would be so different if I hadn't met you and Gwynne. Thank you for letting me be there with you to welcome Liberty into this world. I treasure that moment everyday. I know you will watch over her always. I hope you have peace in your soul and please know that we will always miss you and your amazing laugh and smile. Rest in peace buddy...u will be missed incredibly.

I met Dave in 1993 on my first day at Berea College. We worked together on the Campus Grounds Crew and hit it off immediately. We had so many common interests including the natural world, music, and literature. We detassled corn in Iowa, raked blueberries in Maine, and later David and Gwynne were our neighbors in the hills of Jackson County Kentucky. I consider David a brother and his passing has really hurt. He was a kind, funny, talented guy who never met a stranger. May peace be with all those who love him.

David was one of a kind. He moved in with me in the 90's while working planting meadows at the Holden Arboretum. We hit it off right away with the same interests. He needed a place to live and he was more than easy to get along with. I hadn't had a roommate in years but it was like having a brother move in. After he moved out I asked him iIn 2006 to help me move and we shared a road trip, He quit his job to do it and put me to shame by making more than I did once he got a job! I'll miss you David. To think that no more tents will cross our paths is sad. Good friend, we will meet on a road someplace up above filled with wildflowers and paw paws.

I am Russ and Nancy Welper's eldest daughter and I actually tried avid David for awhile. :) I had two different after-school jobs;watched his comings and goings, and generally would sneak out when I knew he was busy. Eventually, he caught up to me and from that moment he's been part of my quilt of life. I stayed in touch; though it was very hit and miss with David. I was proud of his venture into fatherhood and I was so excited to sit down with him soon and catch him up with my adventure into motherhood. David was one of a kind and I loved him. My heart and hugs go out to all of you who love and miss him in your ways.
