D. W. “Bill” Morgan

October 18, 1934 - June 23, 2012

D. W. “Bill” Morgan, Jr., age 77, of Burton, OH died June 23, 2012 at his residence. Born Oct. 18, 1934 in Sneedville, TN to Dewey W. and Bonita (nee: Trent) Morgan, Sr., he has lived in the Burton area for 46 years. Mr. Morgan worked as a foreman, retiring from Duramax (previously Johnson Rubber) in Middlefield. He was also a vol. firefighter, EMT, trustee and one time Asst. Fire Chief with Burton Fire Department for 37 years. After serving in the US Air Force, Bill married Joyce Epling on Oct. 18, 1959 at Claridon Congregational Church. He enjoyed working on and driving his 1928 Model A. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping others. Bill was a loving husband to Joyce (nee: Epling) Morgan of Burton; a cherished father to Darryl (Loretta) Morgan of Anchorage, AK and Dwayne (Tara) Morgan of Middlefield and a caring grandfather to Andrew Morgan of Anchorage, AK. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Ann Margaret “Peggy” Morgan. Visitation will be Tuesday June 26 from 5-8pm at the Burr Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday at a location to be announced with burial following at Claridon Center Cemetery.

Bill was a long time friend and an excellent Firemen. He supported me as Fire Chief and was always there when someone needed something done. He helped alot of people in the area. Bill was an excellent EMT-A on our Rescue Squad and he was a good Firemen and Trustee on the Burton Vol. Fire Dept.
