Robert “Bob” L. Bavis age 79 of Chardon passed away on April 17, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Born Oct. 20, 1937 in Baltimore City, MD to Frank and Margaret (nee: Schwartz); he had been a longtime area resident. Bob retired from Kent State University in 2005 after working at both Geauga and Main Campus. He enjoyed working with the “younger people.” Bob had a passion for genealogy and could trace his family back to the Mayflower. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren traveling to his favorite destination, the Outer Banks. He enjoyed watching the dolphins from the top deck and people watching. Bob enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts with his older boys, little league and traveling with his younger children. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Esther (nee: Lauer) of Chardon whom he married April 17, 1963; children Elaine Gail Livolsi of Melbourne, FL, Robin Louise (Gene) Ulmer of Chardon, Robert L. Bavis Jr. of Middlefield, Michael Allen (Lisa) Bavis of Holland, OH, Kimberly Frances Bavis of Galena, OH, Patricia Marie Bavis of Galena, OH and Richard David Bavis of Holland, OH; grandchildren Eric and Alex Coleman, Brock and Chase Bavis, Sara and Christopher Ulmer; brother Frank (Linda) Bavis of Sykesville, MD and his best canine friend Peanut. He was preceded in death by his parents and Robert Ray Bavis. Per Bob’s request, there will be no services observed.
