Betty Jo Gartin Hantak (nee: Tackett), Age 79 of Chardon went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2015. She died at Maplewood of Heather Hill. Born January. 26, 1936 in Logan, WV. to Reece and Ollie (nee: Riffett) Tackett, she had been a longtime area resident. Betty retired from Structural Fibers in 1996 and worked as a transportation aide at Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Metzenbaum Center from 2007 until 2014. She greatly enjoyed working with the clients at the Metzenbaum Center.

Betty served as a member of the Chardon Assembly of God for 51 years where she was involved in many church activities. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching and puzzles of all kinds. Survivors include her children Regina (William) Hart of Montville Twp, Patricia (Daniel) Anderson of Munson Twp, Charles (Brenda) Gartin of Huntsburg and Robert (Cindy) Hantak of Munson Twp; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Shirley Spry of Chardon, Eugene (Carol) Tackett of Chardon, Edward Tackett of Ranger, WV, Ralph Tackett of Ranger, WV, Reece Tackett of Newton Falls, Ronnie (Sherrie) Tackett of Harts, WV and Donnie (Sherry) Tackett of Harts, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Rev. Okey Gartin in 1973 and Robert Hantak in 2005. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow at E. Claridon Cemetery.
