Bette J. Witt, 81, died October 1, 2011 at Geauga UH from complications following surgery. She was born March 14, 1930 in Ashland, Kentucky, grew up in Lynchburg, Ohio and then moved to northern Ohio in the 1960’s where she lived in Concord Twp. for many years. She later lived in Madison, Ohio for 30 years but was a Chardon, Ohio resident for the last year. Bette was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed all kinds of gardening and was known for her green thumb and beautiful flower gardens. She loved to bake and her famous pecan rolls and peach cobbler were favorites of her family and the neighborhood. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by first husband Jack B. Lentz of Ashland, OH and their daughter Lori Babcock-Wargo (Alan) of Middlefield, OH and son Peter Lentz of Ashland, OH, grandchildren Jason Bennett of Painesville, OH, Amanda Bennett of Chardon, OH, Clifford Babcock of Fishers, Ind, Tyler Lentz of Ashland, OH, Toby Lentz of Fishers, Ind and great grandchildren Alexandria Bennett and Julia “Bean” Martin of Chardon, OH. Also surviving are her loving sisters Mollie Hamilton (Nelson), Phyllis Hall (Ron), Christine Hockaday (David), Sherron Graswald (Henry) and brothers Donald K. Pendleton (Myra) and James Edward Pendleton along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James Ira Pendleton, Lucille (Thomas) Pendleton and second husband Walter F. Witt. The family will recieve friends Thursday, October 6, 10:00 – 11:00 AM, and the funeral service will be at 11:00 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (500′ South of St. Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH.
