Age 56 of Chardon passed away April 26, 2017 at her residence. Born June 2, 1960 in Euclid to Osborne and Shirley Ward, she had been a lifelong Chardon resident. Alicia worked for the Holden Forests & Gardens, formally the Holden Arboretum, for over 30 years.
The light that brightened everyone’s eye and warmed everyone’s heart, Alicia will be dearly missed. She had an immense passion for life and was always planning the next big trip and adventure. Mom was the bond of our family and the designated party planner for holidays and birthdays. With some of the best friends who became family, time at FHYC was the highlight of the summer. The annual trip to Mexico provided endless laughs, the happiest of memories, and countless drinks…while in Mexico and back home planning for the next one. Those who met or knew Alicia know how kind and loving she was; she was a giver and helper to the core. We already miss your crazy hyena laugh, “Alicia Speak,” and motherly advice. We love you.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Bob of Chardon; daughters Chelsea and Melissa Soss; parents Osborne and Shirley Ward of Chardon; siblings Carolyn (John) Krejci of Chardon and Keith Ward of Champion; father-in-law William (Linda) Soss of Painesville and many close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Jean Soss. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon, OH with burial to follow at Chardon Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or the National MS Society.
